Veteran Anglers Reel in Success at Lake Pleasant Fishing Tournament

Veterans gathered for a day of camaraderie and competition on the waters of Lake Pleasant on November 12, 2023. The event was free to veterans thanks to generous sponsors like Peak One Builders, National Crappie League, Changed by Nature Outdoors, Cameron’s Custom Jigs, Traeger, AZ Leadworks, Cameron’s Custom Jigs, and B’n’M rods. Over 30 participants on 15 boats showcased their fishing prowess in a spirited competition to reel in the largest and heaviest bag of 5 fish.

The tournament kicked off with an early morning registration and welcoming remarks, as well as an amazing and powerful National Anthem by Richard Johnson.

As the sun began to rise, boats raced across the lake to the boat captain’s secret honey holes, in the amazing fall Arizona weather. The air buzzed with anticipation as anglers patiently awaited their first catch.

Despite the tough competition, camaraderie prevailed throughout the day. Veterans shared tips, tricks, and stories, creating a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose. The event was a welcome respite from the challenges of everyday life, providing a chance for veterans to connect with each other and enjoy the serenity of the outdoors.

Families and friends joined in the festivities at the end of the tournament, cheering on their favorite anglers and enjoying a delicious outdoor BBQ. The award ceremony was filled with excitement as the winners were announced and presented with expensive awards, prizes, and swag bags.

The tournament was a resounding success, raising funds for veteran support organizations and providing a day of fun, relaxation, and camaraderie for veterans and their families. The organizers are already planning next year’s event, promising an even bigger and better tournament.

The tournament was a testament to the resilience and spirit of veterans, who continue to inspire us with their strength and dedication. The event also highlighted the importance of community support for veterans, providing them with opportunities to connect, heal, and thrive.
